Hello everyone!
The Feminist Book Club is having our first general meeting this Wednesday,
September 30th at 12:15 p.m. in Annex C of ACAD. We will be discussing the
short story "The Yellow Wallpaper," by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Everyone is
welcome to attend!
"The Yellow Wallpaper" first published in 1892, describes a woman's gradual
descent into insanity as she is prescribed to rest after the birth of her child
and depression. Isolated in an abandoned nursery with barred windows, the
protagonist becomes curiously attached to the fleeting patterns in the yellow
wallpaper. Convinced that the movement of the wallpaper is caused by a woman
trapped within, the protagonist realizes herself within the pattern.
